Ask your employer, school, licensing agency, or program before registering. Visalia CPR cannot guarantee that a course will satisfy every employer or school requirement. A helpful reference is the course name printed on your previous card.

The current 2025 BLS Provider Manual is required

Purchase the current manual during registration or bring an accepted current 2025 manual. A 2020-edition manual is no longer accepted for this class. Visalia CPR accepts manuals purchased directly from the American Heart Association or from Visalia CPR. Third-party marketplace copies may not be accepted.

Who It Is For

Healthcare professionals and students

BLS is designed for healthcare professionals, trained first responders, and individuals enrolled in healthcare training programs who may provide care in hospital, clinic, prehospital, dental, rehabilitation, or other healthcare settings.

  • EMTs, paramedics, nurses, LVNs, CNAs, and medical assistants
  • Physical and occupational therapy professionals and students
  • Dentists, dental staff, pharmacists, and physician assistants
  • Healthcare students whose program requires an AHA BLS Provider card
Course Content

What you will learn and practice

  • High-quality BLS for adults, children, and infants
  • Chest compressions and effective breaths or ventilations
  • Early use of an automated external defibrillator (AED)
  • Relief of foreign-body airway obstruction and choking
  • Roles, communication, and performance within a resuscitation team
Successful Completion

Skills testing and written exam

Students must participate in the course, demonstrate required hands-on skills, complete the skills tests, and pass the exam to earn the BLS Provider eCard.

  • Adult CPR and AED Skills Test
  • Infant CPR Skills Test
  • Minimum exam score of 84%
  • Successful completion of all required course components

This page describes the instructor-led BLS classroom course. A blended option is also available through HeartCode BLS, where the online portion is completed first and followed by a separate hands-on skills session.

Optional Continuing Education

CE units offered separately by Visalia CPR

The CE option is separate from the AHA BLS Provider eCard and may be added during registration for an additional fee. Current eligible license groups may include LVNs, MAs, PTs, PTAs, CNAs, HHAs, EMTs, paramedics, pharmacists, dentists, RDAs, and RDHs. Visalia CPR does not currently offer RN CE units for this course.

Eligibility and the number of units can depend on the participant's license. Call or text before paying when you are unsure. CE fees are not refundable when a participant's license is not eligible.

  • Deposits are non-refundable and reserve your seat
  • Any balance due must be paid upon arrival in cash with exact change
  • Late arrivals and no-shows may lose their seat and deposit
